NAnA ETS was born following the dramatic death of Francesca Martini, who was struck down at the age of 14 by Acute Myeloid Leukemia with a particularly rapid course of only four days.

The family decided to preserve Francesca ‘s cells and make them available to scientific research in the hope of being able to understand the genetic causes of the rare disease that affected her and avoid such a painful experience for other families.

Nana was Simone ‘s tender nickname for his 6-year-old younger sister Francesca .

Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a disease characterized by abnormal growth of bone marrow stem cells that give rise to several types of blood cells including white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
