WHAT TO SEE
The Veiled Christ, if you haven’t seen it yet, is a good idea to purchase tickets in advance: https://www.museosansevero.it/acquista-il-ticket.
You will find yourself in the heart of Naples’ historic center, stroll around Piazza San Domenico, and there a coffee at Scaturchio is a must, along with a sfogliatella, baba, or typical chocolate ministerials. Nearby, Corso Umberto has many shops with unbeatable prices.
Very interesting on Via San Gregorio Armeno – the street of the nativity scene makers – is the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, where a visit allows you to see the different layers of Naples, from early Christian foundations to the present day.
Also worth seeing is the church in Piazza del Gesù, an important and cheerful example of Baroque style, and the Cloister of Santa Chiara across from it, famous for its majolica tiles. Heading up towards Via Toledo, at Piazza Monteoliveto, there is the Vasari Secretariat, all in finely crafted wood, inside the Church of Sant’Anna dei Lombardi.
A little further down Via Toledo is Palazzo Zevallos-Stigliano, part of the Gallerie d’Italia owned by the Intesa San Paolo Group, a small museum rich in artworks. https://gallerieditalia.com/it/napoli/#
For those with more time, the National Archaeological Museum at Piazza Museo 19 is worth a full day in itself for the Pompeian artifacts and much more.
These are a few things to see easily and quickly, all quite close to each other.
P.S. To stay worry-free while exploring, it’s best to avoid wearing Rolex watches or any valuable jewelry!
SHOPPING
For upscale shopping in the area, head to Via Chiaia (Tramontano for bags), Piazza dei Martiri (designer brands like Ferragamo and Armani), Via Calabritto, and Via dei Mille, including Via Filangieri. You can also enjoy a coffee at Gran Caffè La Caffettiera. For a stroll, explore the charming and elegant alleys of Via Bausan, Via delle Cavallerizze a Chiaia, or Vicoletto Belle Donne with delightful boutique shops. A stylish street market nearby can be found on Via Vittorio Imbriani every morning.”
