Interview
I would like to thank NanA onlus for the opportunity that gave me to start my PhD in Immunology, Molecular Medicine and Applied Biotechnology at the University of Tor Vergata. I sincerely also thank this Onlus and Professor Maria Teresa Voso for welcoming me into their team and for guiding and motivating me every day during my studies and research.
Last year, we conducted a nationwide survey (the first in Italy), enrolling patients suffering from Vexas Syndrome, from different hospitals that joined the study. The goal was to collect important clinical and therapeutic information about the disease.
I was involved in laboratory activities of Advanced Hematology Diagnostics: processing of peripheral and bone marrow blood samples from patients at diagnosis and at various timepoints of Vexas syndrome, DNA extraction, sequencing by Sanger method, ddPCR analysis, study of clonal dynamics of UBA1 gene.
My main research fields are: myelodysplastic syndromes, Vexas syndrome (which is still being clinically and therapeutically defined), and acute myeloid leukemias with special attention to core-binding-factor leukemias with chromosome 16 inversion. I have mainly done clinical activity and research in the Vexas Syndrome setting.
I started my PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology and Applied Biotechnology at the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention in November 2023.
I am now attending the second year of my PhD. For work reasons, I moved to Campobasso in April 2023, so I am continuing to do mainly data collection activities.
